Chasing Away Childhood Cancer

Triathlon Team Photo

TEAM CHASE is training for the YMCA Youth Triathlon!

It is that time of year again, time once again for The Summerille YMCA Youth Triathlon. This year will be the third year Team Chase is participating in The Triathlon. The 6th Annual YMCA Youth Triathlon gives children ages 7-14 the chance to compete in their very own triathlon designed just for kids! Athletes will compete in a swim, bike and run through the beautiful neighborhood and trails of The Ponds community. This great event will take place in The Ponds community in Summerville August 16th, 7:30am-11am. Thanks to enthusiastic support from the community, children of several families have banded together to compete in the Triathlon (over 30 teams). Thanks to their support in the past they have raised close to $20,000 to help the local fight against childhood cancer. Two years ago Team Chase raised well over $8,000. Last year was even better when Team Chase raised over $10,000. The funds raised last year went towards purchasing crucial imaging plates for the local childhood cancer research lab at MUSC Children’s hospital. The local childhood cancer research lab is the only lab in the state of South Carolina. It is in this lab that crucial research with a focus on neuroblastoma is conducted every day. It is thanks to wonderful supporters like you that this lab can continue its critical research every day.

Now we need your help once again. We are in the process of recruiting this year’s team and hope past team members will come back to join us. We welcome new team members to join Team Chase by registering for the race and creating a fundraising page. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 for local childhood cancer research. We cannot do it without your help! We are looking to recruit the largest team in The Kid’s Triathlon. Please consider joining Team Chase and help us Chase Away Childhood Cancer!!!
