On April 24, 2014, the Exchange Club of Charleston issued grants to organizations across the lowcountry. Chase After a Cure was one of the blessed organizations. The $10,000 grant money will be used to purchase a vital piece of equipment for the research lab at MUSC Children’s Hospital:

“The MUSC research lab is studying a novel pathway for neuroblastoma therapy. Their research is focused on developing inhibitors to a type of proteins called sphingolipd enzymes. Targeting the sphingolipid pathway will be beneficial treatment of all pediatric cancers, not just neuroblastoma. Funds from this grant are requested to help fund the purchase of an imager to study the amounts of sphingolipid protein in neuroblastoma cell lines and tumors. This device will also measure the changes in the amounts of protein in neuroblastoma cells and tumors after treatments with the inhibitors developed by the lab. The researchers anticipate that targeted inhibition of these enzymes in neuroblastoma will improve survival and reduce long term side effects. They believe these inhibitors will be incorporated into future clinical trials”-Dr Kraveka

In addition, The Exchange Club of Charleston has been a huge supporter and sponsor of our annual gala for the past five years. As one of our largest and top donors, Chase After a Cure is extremely honored and blessed to have the long term continued support and generosity from The Exchange Club of Charleston.
