Chasing Away Childhood Cancer

Red Band Society

Have you seen the new Fox show Red Band Society? It follows a group of teens who meet and bond while patients in the pediatric ward of a Los Angeles hospital.

Red Band Society is inspired by the true story of Albert Espinosa. Espinosa was 14 years old when he was diagnosed with a malignant bone cancer. He spent the next 10 years of his life in a hospital in Barcelona (his hometown). During that time, Espinosa beat four types of cancer and lost a leg, a lung, and part of his liver. His battle with cancer led him to write The Yellow World (his memoir) and Pulseras Rojas (a Spanish television series).
